The election commission has suggested the following reforms for the political parties to obey in the coming election. The highlights  are-

· The Commission has suggested that legal provisions be made to regulate the

functioning of political parties and the Commission should be empowered

regulate registration as well as de-registration of political parties.

· The political parties should be legally required to get their accounts audited

annually. The audited accounts should be put in the public domain. There should be transparency in the fund raising and expenditure of political parties.

· A Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha in 1994 [R.P. (Second amendment) Bill,

1994], whereby an amendment was proposed providing for provision to question before a High Court, acts of misuse of religion by political parties. The Bill lapsed on the dissolution of the Lok Sabha in 1996. The Commission has proposed that the provision in that Bill should be considered again.

· The Commission has been proposed amendment in the Representation of

People Act, 1951, to provide therein that publishing and abetting the publishing

Of bad news’ for furthering the prospect of the election of any candidate or for

prejudicially affecting the prospect of the election of any candidate be made an

electoral offense under chapter-III of Part-VII of Representation of People Act,

1951 with punishment of a minimum of two years imprisonment.

 Only one question arose in mind. Are we in a mess?

INDEPENDENCE DAY OR DAY OF PARTITION ?

Independence day brings mixed emotions for most of Indians, on one hand it is the joy of trying to come out of thousand years of slavery and bondage, on the other hand, it is parting away from loved one's and from his or her land. It was a human tragedy never happened before in the history of mankind. That bloody independence still brings joyous moments for new generation Indians.

In our childhood memory, independence day used to bring so much joy. There was a mandatory distribution of sweets followed by a flag hoisting by respectable people of our locality. Another event that was the center of all attractions, was to watch free nationalistic movie in one of our local cinema halls. In recent years, independence day brings terror, all the streets of our city became deserted.

Does independence day hold any meaning today? Do new generation Indians deviating from the path for which the nation was born? These are some burning questions that are everybody's mind.

This nation was born, from the colonial power, after thousand years of slavery and bondage, to give a sense of freedom & liberty to everybody and to establish the glory of the past. To regain it's identity, it's language and culture, to uplift the nation in the advanced group of nations.

After 65 years of independence, no one can say with confidence, that yes, we have been followed the path since then, and a gained partially. The primary task of this nation seems to be sidelined, for the vested interest groups.

The basic need of the people are not addressed even today, the poverty, ignorance, malnutrition etc. They are not priority list in the governance.

The dreams of our forefather seems to be vanishing from our thought process.

I have never seen or heard, anybody paying tribute to the people who died or became homeless on this day.

Let's hope somebody will come and take charge, undo the wrong.

Cloudburst or Weather-bomb?

 

In an unprecedented way in the history of this nation, the Indian defense personale saved thousands of people from the fury of cloud burst which struck in the high mountains of Himalaya recently. The valleys of Kedarnath and Bardinath were completely inundated by the flood water which causes destruction unheard of before. The town of Kedarnath which is one of the four famous ‘Dhams’, looks like an old excavated town of the past. There were lots of destruction both in terms of   lives and properties.

The cloud burst is a disastrous weather event in which, the heaviest rainfall occurs over a localized area at a faster rate. The rate of rainfall may be of the order of 100mm per hour. The cloud burst in India occurs during the monsoon season over the orographically dominant regions like Himalayan region, northeastern states and the Western Ghats. A cloud burst has been reported near Leh in Jammu and Kashmir around 0130–0200 hours IST on 6th August, 2010 leading to flash flood and mudslides over the region. It caused huge loss of lives and properties.

It is surprising to see, in spite  of  advanced weather monitoring system working round the clock, the Indian nation fails to deliver even a simple warning to the people at the crucial time of need. All those weather satellites moving round the globe could not save thousands of people from dying helplessly. It is therefore natural to propose the following to the concerned authority

·       To establish a proper disaster management force
